DIPLOMA IN CREATIVE WRITING FOR PERFORMANCE 2008-2010

This two year part time writing course enables you to develop the techniques specific to writing for Theatre, Radio Drama, Television, Film and Animation. You will build up a portfolio of scripts, working towards a Diploma in Higher Education. The course is taught by experienced professionals, many of them working within the creative industries. You do not need formal qualifications in order to participate, just a passion for writing. Classes are held weekly on Monday evenings, 7.30-9.30pm and on 2 Saturdays per term.

Applicants will be asked to include a short piece of creative writing as part of their application and to come for an interview.

You love film and want to know more about it? This two year part-time Diploma comprises aims to develop your understanding and use of the language and concepts of film theory. It includes a short introduction to some practical aspects of the filmmaking process and to some of the issues faced by the film industry today. Volunteers needed

Cineformation is looking for Volunteers, Camera People, Editors, Podcast Experts and Journalists.

We need a creative bunch of people to help film our events, editors to edit video podcast and an expert to help make them available on itunes. We also need journalists who can attend events and report on the events so that those who were unable to attend can read about the event online.

The commitment will only be a few hours a week (depending on your availability) and you will of course be credited for your work.

DeptcT! 08 Deadline is almost here

The deadline for DepicT! ‘08 is quickly approaching, and they want your 90 second shorts!

Now in its tenth year, this ultra-short film competition is on the hunt for emerging filmmakers who can take imagination, style, emotion, drama, mystery, humour and passion and pack them into one captivating mini-movie.

Prizes include £2000 and a place on a short film course at the National Film and Television School, and this year’s judges include Nik Powell (head of the NFTS), Simon Relph (former BAFTA chairman) and Kate Taylor (festival director of Abandon Normal Devices and co-director of the Halloween/London Short Film Festival.

The deadline is Mon 8 Sept, 1700hrs (BST), so visit http://www.depict.org for more information and to upload your film.

So, it’s the end of an era, both Lizz and I are moving on from Cineformation this week, so thank you to our fantastic guest speakers, all those who have attended events & everyone who’s supported Cineformation over the last two years. We couldn’t have done it without you.

But do not fear, Cineformation will continue to host events every month at Watershed, so keep checking the website for details.

Wax 'n' Reels - August

WAX ‘n’ REELS is nigh on upon us! This month is set to be an Animation Spectacular!
