Encounters Short Films Festival presents:

The Final Edit

Up your skills levels and get some great insights from top industry professionals (Paddy Considine, Anna Pangborn, Eddie Hamilton) when you sign up for the Encounters Film School. Running from Friday 21st to Saturday 22nd November at Encounters Film Festival Bristol, this two-day intensive training is supported by NFTS, London Film Academy, Aardman Animation, Apple and Avid:

A full day of masterclasses (editing, sound design, VFX, Film to digital and grading)
A full day of hands-on training by accredited trainers on a software of your choice (numbers permitting!): FCP, Avid Media Composer, Protools and Color

Camera & Equipment Exhibition at Watershed

Calling all Camera Crews

As you are aware, Wildscreen 2008 the world’s largest and most prestigious festival of wildlife & environmental film commenced in Bristol this weekend running from Sunday 19th until Friday 24th October 2008.

Cineformation Camerapersons and their Camera Crew and who are not Wildscreen delegates, are warmly invited to a Camera and Equipment Exhibition in Waterside Rooms 1, 2 & 3 at The Watershed, Bristol on Tuesday 21st October from 5pm until 7pm.

Exhibitors include : Panasonic, On Sight, Aerial Camera Systems, Visual Impact, Lake Image Systems, Polecam, Panalux Bristol (for Panavision Europe), Quadlogic, Big Squid, ARKive, Earth-Touch, Films at 59 (supported by Top Tex), Wild Film History and Arri GB.

A wide range of new film and HD cameras will be on display including two new Panasonic cameras straight from the UK Press launch that morning, the Arri Super 16mm 416 and the very recent Arri D21 HD camera.

to showcase their talents with a Mini Masterpiece of their own.

This year we’re very excited to be partnering South West Screen and
4Talent to bring specially commissioned short documentaries on the theme of
Independence, to Encounters Short Film Festival in Bristol.

There’s a great package on offer including a cash budget, an industry
producer with mentoring, delegate and party pass to the festival and a
feature on the 4talent website.

University of Bristol upcoming courses

DEPARTMENT OF DRAMA LIFELONG LEARNING

DIPLOMA IN CREATIVE WRITING FOR PERFORMANCE 2008-2010

This two year part time writing course enables you to develop the techniques specific to writing for Theatre, Radio Drama, Television, Film and Animation. You will build up a portfolio of scripts, working towards a Diploma in Higher Education. The course is taught by experienced professionals, many of them working within the creative industries. You do not need formal qualifications in order to participate, just a passion for writing.
Classes are held weekly on Monday evenings, 7.30-9.30pm and on 2 Saturdays per term.

Applicants will be asked to include a short piece of creative writing as part of their application and to come for an interview.

You love film and want to know more about it? This two year part-time Diploma comprises aims to develop your understanding and use of the language and concepts of film theory. It includes a short introduction to some practical aspects of the filmmaking process and to some of the issues faced by the film industry today.
